Op 15 november van dit jaar komt de nieuwste Star Wars game Jedi: Fallen Order uit. Een paar weken terug werden we door game ontwikkelaar EA al getrakteerd op de eerste trailer, maar gisteren kwam EA ineens met beelden van de gameplay die ruim 26 minuten duurde.
Het spel wordt omschreven als:
Order 66 has been executed. Once, staying alive meant hiding your abilities. Now, you must embrace them. Use the Force to manipulate your environment, master lightsaber combat, explore dangerous terrain, and remain one step ahead of the Empire.
Zoal gezegd, vanaf 15 november 2019 is Jedi: Fallen Order te spelen op de PlayStation 4, Xbox One en de PC.
Het is al weer enkele maanden terug dat LEGO een speciale Star Wars wedstrijd uitschreef. De opdracht was om zelf 'the greatest battles' na te maken, hoewel deze niet helemaal canon hoefde te zijn. Wij hebben jullie toen op de hoogte gebracht van deze wedstrijd omdat er prachtige LEGO Star Wars prijzen te winnen vielen.
Gisteren werd de winnaar door LEGO bekend gemaakt en het resultaat mag er inderdaad wezen. Er werden in dit ontwerp meerdere battles ontworpen en tezamen geeft het een hele toffe weergaven van The Phantom Menace.
Het winnende project van Krakenbrix wist meer dan 600 tegenstanders te verslaan. De jury zei het volgende over zijn bouwwerk:
Great idea to make a circular model! A fantastic way to show all the highlight moments from The Phantom Menace with many fine details. The royal Palace, Naboo Hangar and Droid control ship are all great looking small elements of a fantastic model. Building a circular model is very difficult and has been done perfectly here. The overall level of detail is also stunning, thanks to the high number of LEGO elements.
Up nummer twee en drie kwamen ook nog twee mooie projecten te staan. Op twee Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul en en drie de Tantive IV.
Een aantal maanden terug pleitte Luke Skywalker acteur Mark Hamill er voor om zijn Star Wars zus Leia (Carrie Fisher) een ster te geven op de Hollywood Walk of Fame. Er werd recent zelfs nog een petitie gestart om de in 2016 overleden Carrie aan een tegel te helpen. De petitie werd door het Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame Selection Committee in ontvangst genomen, maar helaas werd er deze week bekend gemaakt dat de ster voorlopig niet door gaat.
Volgens het comité zou dit tegen de regels in gaan. Deze zouden immers voorschrijven dat iemand alleen een ster kan ontvangen wanneer iemand in leven is of minimaal vijf jaar na het overlijden van de ster. Omdat Carrie in 2016 is overleden voldoet ze niet aan deze regels. Ook zegt het comité niet te weten of Carrie wel een ster wilde. Als er in 2021 zou worden besloten om Carrie toch te selecteren zou de familie moeten beslissen of dit gewenst is. Deze moeten dan tevens ook zelf de kosten van $50.000,- betalen.
Andere mensen werden dit jaar wel geselecteerd. Zo krijgen Julia Roberts, Chris Hemsworth en anderen wel een ster. Zelfs het fictieve personage Batman weet een ster te bemachtigen.
Naast Jedi: Fallen Order werd er afgelopen week nóg een game bekend gemaakt. Want na een nieuwe Star Wars film/ reeks mag één bepaald spel toch echt niet ontbreken, namelijk, LEGO Star Wars! Al vanaf het begin volgen de LEGO games vrijwel alle Star Wars films en zijn ze ook al talloze keren gekomen met nieuwe 'LEGO Star Wars Saga' games. Maar nu het verhaal van de Skywalkers deze december echt tot een einde komt, komt LEGO ook onvermijdelijk met een nieuwe uitgave.

We weten al een hele tijd dat er een nieuwe Star Wars game aan zit te komen en op Star Wars Celebration werd eerder dit jaar ook al het een en ander over het spel onthuld. Zo weten we dat het speel gaat om de Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis die mee vocht gedurende de Clone Wars. Toen deze abrupt aan een einde kwam met order 66 wist Cal het toch te overleven. Door Cal's leven als een continu voortvluchtige ontdekt hij de Force op een nieuwe manier en zet hij alles op alles om de Jedi Order opnieuw op te zetten.
Afgelopen week kwam daar een trailer bij voor de game en in die trailer was onder meer Saw Gerrera te zien, een rebel die we kennen uit zowel de Clone Wars als Rogue One. Jedi: Fallen Order speelt zich ook af tussen episode III en IV, net als Rogue One, dus misschien dat we nog meer bekende personages tegen gaan komen.
Gisteren maakte StarWars.com ook nog bekend dat de game vooraf nog een miniserie krijgt aan Marvel strips. In de miniserie worden de personages van de game aan je voorgesteld. De officiële Star Wars website plaatste het volgende bericht:
"Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Dark Temple, a five-issue Marvel miniseries that will lead into the highly-anticipated game from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm, was revealed today. Written by Matthew Rosenberg (Uncanny X-Men and The Punisher) and illustrated by Paolo Villanelli (Vader: Dark Visions), the tale follows Jedi Master Eno Cordova and his impulsive Padawan Cere Junda — on a seemingly simple mission that becomes much more dangerous. The Jedi Council sends the pair to the remote planet Ontotho to oversee the excavation of a mysterious temple; on Ontotho, dueling forces of local resistance and ruthless security troops clash in a war for the fate of the planet, with the Jedi caught in the middle. Get a first look at the cover below!"

Cere Junda and Eno Cordova are a pair of Jedi that fans are definitely going to want to know more about, and this comic will tell you part of their story you won’t get anywhere else.”
“What’s more fun than working on a new Star Wars book?” says Villanelli. “Well, the answer is working on a new Star Wars book exploring a completely new part of the franchise. As a video game lover I was super excited to be part of the new Fallen Order game, and as an artist I was thrilled to explore and create a part of it for the comics. Besides our titular heroes Cere and Eno, we’ll get a chance to show new planets, villains, and some good old lightsaber action.”
Dark Temple, developed in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm, kicks off with issue #1 in September. Featuring Cere, a major figure from the game along with more elements from the forthcoming action-adventure, the series promises to enrich the experience of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order arrives November 15 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and is available for pre-order.
